- Porosity
- voids or pores resulting from trapped air or shrinkage in a casting.
- Port
- opening through which molten metal enters the injection cylinder of a plunger machine or is ladled into the injection cylinder of a cold chamber machine.
- Rod,tie
- a bar used in a casting machine to hold dies locked against pressure and, in general, also serving as a way along which the movable die platen slides.
- Runner
- die passage connecting sprue or plunger holes of a die to the gate where molten metal enters the cavity or cavities.
- Shot
- that segment of the casting cycle in which molten metal is forced into the die.
